of a Home Recording Studio…
If you’re a musician, you’ve probably thought about putting your craft out there on display, so that you can get your 15 minutes of fortune and fame!
You probably want to record those great tunes you’ve written right? Or, you have a band in the garage, and you need a place to record your work?
Or… how about you have the material, but you need to record that demo for the record companies?
Where do you start? I mean… it’s a jungle out there!
Well, building your own recording studio is a great place to start!
Now relax, and stop clutching your chest. It’s all about “supply and demand,” baby! Retail prices are falling faster than a fat girl’s facelift!
Let me assure you that there are ways to fast track this, and we’re gonna talk about them, right here. Rest assured that it WILL take a little time. And you’ll do a lot of research. And you’re gonna spend some money, probably more than you’ve imagined.
But hey! Nobody said that “fame comes cheap.” We’re talking “home studio,” now, not “I’m gonna put Sony out of business.” For that, you need wheelbarrows full of cash, advisers with enough alphabet soup after their names to feed a third world country, and enough resources to make Warren Buffett look up and take notice.
As we speak, I have my own project up and running, to turn a warehouse into a studio, in a way that would make most people, including audio pro’s cringe!
It’s not really a “home studio. It falls somewhere in-between “home” and “corporate,” I suppose. I already own the building, it’s over 1,300 square feet, with a few years of “collected parts,” and over a hundred grand to play with. But it pales in comparison with most “commercial studios” you’ll haul that axe into.
As you watch it slowly come to life, you may see things that will apply to your own build. I started my recording studio build, just like you’ve done. I got out on the web, and looked for resources and information.
Now, I found a LOT of good information, and a few guys who really know what they’re talking about. But “I had to sort thru a lot of chaff, to get to the wheat.”
Unlike my experience, you won’t have to “debunk” a lot of the myths and misinformation, because I’m going to fact-check it for you. That will speed things up considerably, let me tell you!
As we look at my build, we’ll talk about a computer based studio that will fit in a small shell, and serve as a starting platform for an individual, or a small band, but you will find this site useful in many other recording situations as well.
You will find explanations on how to build the high performance computers suited for creating those DAW (Digital Audio Workstations) that you need, or we’ll teach you enough to go out and find a powerful desktop computer. I’ll have guides on selecting components needed in the industry, be they recording equipment like audio mixers, microphones, recording software, even studio furniture.
And, remember that you don’t have to have one of everything to be successful. What you want to build is a fully functional home recording studio that suits your needs. Everybody starts at the same place, in this “Land of Oz.” You start with the basics and work your way up.
Stay tuned, because I guarantee you’re gonna like what you see!
